Ye Shufang (b. 1971, Singapore)

Ye Shufang’s art practice spans over two decades, with a focus on the ephemeral and the ‘ready-made’. She has had solo exhibitions at The Private Museum Singapore (2016, 2013, 2011); The Belgrade Cultural Centre, Serbia (2004); Cemeti Art House, Yogyakarta (2004); and Plastique Kinetic Worms, Singapore (2004). Her participation in curated exhibitions include Medium At Large, Singapore Art Museum (2014); World Exposition 2005, Japan (2005); and Feminine Imaginare, Venice (2002).

 

Shufang’s drawing ‘Exercises in Shape (II)’ was selected as one of 100 favourite artworks of 2011 by Bazaar Art (China) magazine; featured in the January 2012 issue. She is one of 10 recipients of the inaugural President’s Young Talents Exhibition award in 2001.

 

Shufang served as Programme Leader, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programme, Faculty of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts (2002 to 2007) where she supervised studio and research portfolios.

Shufang served as Head, Faculty of Visual Arts, School of the Arts Singapore (2007 to 2010) where she led the development and implementation of the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts curriculum. From 2010 to 2022, Shufang served as Deputy Director, Education at National Gallery Singapore where she led gallery learning and headed the Gallery's Keppel Centre for Art Education. Under her leadership, Keppel Centre for Art Education received the Children in Museums Award 2018 for innovative art education, awarded by Hands On! International Association of Children in Museums and European Museum Academy. 

Shufang currently serves as Senior Lecturer with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore.

 

She is working on a series of drawings responding to DORSCON Orange in Singapore.
