PROJECT : small sweets II (2004)

An exhibition of drawings and an exchange of sweets

This project was carried out to examine how people would measure the worth of a sweet. On International Childrens’ Day, 1 October 2004, passers-by were invited to exchange any item that they may have with them for a piece of sweet.

 

Many adults exchanged their used tissues for a sweet. Some children exchanged sweets that they already had for a chance to lucky-dip for another sweet.  Several older children made drawings on the spot (without prompting on my part) to exchange for a sweet (this, I thought, was a fair exchange – an original drawing for a sweet).
